“Dis(ability)” shows how she shatters society’s understanding of a disability, proving that in a ‘disability’ there is great ability.

Nice job, Ariana! You keep the story moving forward through the entire 9 minutes. The intercutting of narration with “live action” helps keep the pace up, so that the narration by Alison’s mom doesn’t drag. Good use of music – it’s not intrusive, it carries the emotion. I would like to have maybe seen Alison’s mom in more different settings so the “talking head” aspect is diminished somewhat, but overall it’s a very good piece. Professional quality. Keep doing this stuff – you’ve clearly got a talent for it!
Good job, Ariana..when I first noticed the 9 min length, I wondered if it would feel long, but pacing was very good. The music helped move the pics along. I echo Tim’s suggestion about showing the Mom in multiple locations,and activities. She talks about. How busy they are. To me, the mother is a big part of the story. She’s articulate and resourceful. These are minor quibbles, an excellent story with a nice emotional punch.
I think mom does a great job addressing the challenges and joys of being Alison’s parent. A nice piece in all respects.
