How to Tip in a Restaurant in the United States

By | January 26, 2016

This is an instructional video that I produced for my video class at MATC.  Viewers should come away from this video having a better understanding of that bizarre social construct known as “tipping.”  This video was aired as part of a “movie night” at MATC where student and faculty work was shown.

Nice job, Matty – great use of graphics to break up a single set-shot; good narrative; and a good lesson in what tipping is, how much we should tip, and more importantly WHY we tip! Nice humorous touch at the end, too. Keep up the good work!

Nice feel to the piece, appropriate tone to the story. I did like the graphics, however, the “dead air” with the graphics bothered me. Could you have used a sound effect? cash register? My experience is that viewers react more to dead air, than black on air. Sound effects or a sound image may have been helpful with the graphics.

Small stuff, I did like it, it was entertaining, instructive and fun, so I think you achieved what you were going after.
